PARK HUNT DATES:
The Flag Pond Loop and Waldo's Loop Trails will be closed from sunrise to 12 pm daily during Early Teal, Regular North Zone Duck and Youth Only Waterfowl.
The Trailway will be closed starting 1/2 mile from Nails Creek SP to the Wolf Pond Primitive Campsites on the following dates:
* Closure begins at 3 pm on Dec 6th through 2 pm on Dec 8th.
* Closure begins at 3 pm on Jan 24th through 8am Jan. 30th.
The entire park and Trailway from Nails Creek SP to the Nails Creek Trailway Bridge will be closed from 5 pm January 21st through 2 pm January 24th.
June 20, 2024 - The Nails Creek Unit will be closed October 21st - 23rd, 2024 for overnight camping and Day Use for a Hunter Education class. All hiking trails past the Rocky Point turnoff will be closed.
May 1, 2024 - Two bridges on the Trailway have been washed out, one over Nails Creek and one over Yegua Creek near the Newman Bottom parking area. Please reach out to either Nails Creek or Birch Creek headquarters for more information before heading out on the Trailway.
Feb. 1, 2020 – Newman's Bottom parking area is now open. The road to the parking area has changed; the single-lane road narrows in places. Drive slowly and be courteous to other users. Trailers are NOT allowed at the Newman Parking area. Please park only in designated areas.
June 23, 2020; The Lake Somerville SP Trailway is again open for hikers, bikers and horseback riders. The area around Flag Pond, CR 125, CR 140 and the Sandhill are open to all users.
The Trailway is open 2 miles out from the Nails Creek side.
You must possess a current negative Coggins test for your horse. Equestrian parking for the Trailway is permitted at the access gate on CR 125 and CR 140.
