September 27, 2024 - Out of an abundance of caution and per the recommendation of Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) biologists and water quality officials, lake access at Lake Colorado City State Park is CLOSED until further notice due to a presumed blue-green algae bloom in the lake.
The lake will be closed to boating, swimming, and fishing. The park is still open for all other activities.
For more information on blue-green algae, visit https://tpwd.texas.gov/landwater/water/environconcerns/hab/otherhab/
September 6, 2024 - The courtesy dock is underwater and not accessible, due to the rising lake level. Check back for updates.
PARK HUNT DATES:
Sep. 1 - Oct. 27 and Dec. 13 - Jan. 14
The hunts will take place in a wildlife management area in the Southwest corner of the park, 30 minutes before sunrise and last until 30 minutes after sunset. All trails, buildings, campsites, and swimming areas in the park will be open during the hunts.
This reservoir typically has golden alga blooms from November to April. Blooms vary in intensity (slightly to highly toxic) and duration (several weeks to several months) and may result in fish kills. Contact the park for the latest conditions.
When launching boats from the boat ramp, use extreme caution navigating the water and watch for sand bars and underwater debris. Contact the park for the latest lake level information.
